Capture by scanning

You will point a camera or a scanner at something, watch it land in the inbox identified, and confirm it into the category you built in Your first category. By the end you have added an item without typing its fields.

Pick how you scan​

Two ways, use whichever you have:

  • Your phone. At a desktop, hit Pair phone: the desktop shows a QR code, you scan it with the phone's camera, and the phone is signed in to this workspace on the spot. From then on the phone's camera captures into the same inbox your desktop is showing.
  • A USB or Bluetooth scanner. Plug it in and every Cobblr page picks it up, nothing to configure. A 2D scanner is worth it: it reads QR codes too, which the next tutorial uses.

Scan something​

Scan a product barcode. Cobblr looks the code up and comes back with a name, an image, and a category, and the item drops into your inbox. If you scanned a photo of something with no barcode and you have AI connected, vision reads the picture and suggests a name instead. Either way you get a suggestion to check, not a saved record.

File it from the inbox​

Open the inbox. Each item shows what Cobblr found. Confirm one into one of your own tables (the picker lists what this workspace actually has, like Yarn or Parts, not module names), and set a location if you want. It saves into your category as a real record, the same shape as the one you typed by hand.

Work through a pile one at a time, or confirm a batch at once.

An item captured from a scan and filed into your category. Next, give your space locations and labels so a scan carries the place with it.
