Knowledge

The Knowledge module is a place for the writing that goes with your stuff: notes, references, standard procedures, prompts, papers. Each entry is rich Markdown with an image and your own fields.

Working the vault

  • New entry gives you a title and a Markdown body with a live Preview, so a procedure reads the way it will render before you save it.
  • Entries categorise, search from one box, edit and delete like anything else.
  • An image is added after the first save (a photo of a wiring run, a screenshot of a config barcode), and removed the same way.
  • Pin the ones you reach for often and they land in the Pinned tab of the side panel, beside Cobb and Discussion, on every page. If a pinned entry carries a code, Pinned shows it as a scannable QR. If it holds an image, a scanner's config barcode say, that opens full-size there too, ready to scan.

The Pinned tab

Open the side panel and pick Pinned. Everything you pinned in the Knowledge Base is there, in full, on every page.

  • The body is shown complete, not truncated, because a code cut off after one line is a code you cannot use. The title links to the entry.
  • It does not change as you move around. Unlike the Discussion tab, which follows the record you are on, Pinned is yours and is the same wherever you are.
  • Knowledge Base off? The tab says so and links you to turn it on rather than sitting there empty.

It is for the handful of things you keep needing while doing something else: a pair of configuration codes to scan, a measurement chart, the settings that always take three tries to remember.

Structure when you want it

Because an entry carries fields, an image, and a Markdown body with a rich toolbar, it's as structured as you want it to be: a quick note today, a full reference sheet with metadata tomorrow. And because it shares the same data as everything else, an entry can sit alongside the parts, machines, or projects it documents.
