Public sharing
Cobblr can put a single view or record on a public URL that needs no login, so you can share it with someone or leave it up on a screen.
The loop:
- Turn on a public surface for a view or a record (owner, admin, or member).
- Share the long random URL. Treat it like a key.
- Disable to pause, Revoke to end it, or give it an expiry.
A read-only link
Turn on a public surface for a view or an entity, and Cobblr gives you a long, random URL.
- Anyone with the link sees a read-only version, with no account and no way into the rest of your workspace.
- It reads from a separate public endpoint, so only what you opted in to share is ever visible.
- A surface can be a saved view, a single record, a collection (an entity kind plus a filter, shared without creating a view first), a board (several views side by side, made for that wall display), or a whole custom app in read-only form.
On a screen
That public page renders as a TV-friendly gallery or list, so an old tablet or a wall display can show live status hands-off: a build board, a shop's current work, what's done this week.
Who can share, and what the URL is
- Creating a surface takes a signed-in member: owner, admin, or member. Guests cannot mint public URLs.
- The URL's long random token is the entire secret. There is no login on the other end, so treat the link like a key, and share per-surface rather than reusing one.
Turning it off
Each surface has three exits, and they differ:
- Disable is the pause button: the URL answers with nothing while disabled and comes back when you re-enable, same link.
- Revoke is permanent: the surface is gone and the token can never resolve again. Share a new surface if you change your mind.
- An expiry does it on a schedule: give a surface an end date and it stops itself, which fits a job posting board or an event screen you would otherwise forget to take down.
So sharing is never all-or-nothing and never permanent by accident.
