Migrating to Cobblr

You already have your stuff written down somewhere: a spreadsheet, another inventory app, a pile of notes. Moving to Cobblr means bringing that in without retyping it, and knowing you can get it back out later.

Two things make that safe. Every import shows you a preview before it writes anything, so you see what will land and where. And nothing you put in is trapped: a workspace exports back out to a file you own (see Backup and export).

Pick your starting point​

  • From a spreadsheet or CSV: the path that works for anything. If you can produce a CSV, Cobblr can read it.
  • From another tool: Homebox has a live connector and a one-shot importer. For everything else, export to CSV and use the path above.
  • Preserving history: moving between two Cobblr workspaces, and keeping a copy of what you had before you start.

What actually imports today​

The import paths that ship are CSV import for inventory items and locations, a scan-inbox import for captured items, and the Homebox connector (live sync or a one-shot CSV). The Integration catalog lists the sync sources available. Anything without its own path comes in through CSV.

Import is additive. It adds rows to your workspace; it does not reach out and change or delete what a source still holds. If an import looks wrong in the preview, you close it and nothing was written.
