Machines
The Machines module is where you track your equipment: the 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, and other machines you own. It's a record of what you have, not a way to drive them. Driving them is Digital fabrication.
What it tracks
- Identifying details: manufacturer, family, and type, plus its state and whatever fields matter for it, such as firmware or nozzle size.
- Each kind gets its own area, because Machines can be instanced: a 3D Printers area with printer fields, a Lasers area with laser fields, and so on, all still machines underneath.
- Nothing has to be connected. It's a good equipment log whether or not Cobblr ever talks to the machines.
Each machine's own page
A machine type with its own tab (3D Printers, Laser Cutters, CNC Machines) opens a full machine page, not a name-only stub.
- Set every field, edit it, attach files.
- Connect a 3D printer to its print manager (FDM Monster, OctoPrint, or Bambu) right from the page or from the New 3D printer dialog.
- The detail view opens wide, with the photo on the left and fields on the right, and stacks to one column on a phone.
Saved views
Every Machines instance carries saved views as chips, so switching perspective is one click instead of re-checking a filter.
- Printer fleet by state, a shipped view, groups your printers by state.
- Save view lets you name your own (which states to include, an optional grouping) and pin it as a reusable tab.
Usage and maintenance
Once a machine is linked to print jobs, each completed print bumps its lifetime print count, and its hours too when the manager reports a duration. Pair that with a maintenance threshold and Cobblr reminds you by real use, "nozzle due at 500 prints", instead of by a guessed date.
To actually send files and run jobs, see Digital fabrication.
